Honestly, from what I'm seeing, the ball game is over with at this point. I'm sure as heck not continuing a game under these conditions. Let the league hand down all of the penaltes - they're sure to have a better view looking at the tape than I am from field level anyway.
I sure would expect #40 to be sitting down for quite a long while after swinging a milk crate (I think) at 0:16. At first glance I thought that was his helmet - glad to be wrong there.

the helmet comes in much later in the video. Thrown into the stands from the feild.

#40's seat should be in a local lock-up, pending trial for assault.

Goodnight folks, no more football tonight......

Indeed! tiphat:

First thing, the two officials who went into the stands had absolutely no business being there. Whatever happened there is the baliwick of the police, not the officials. Yes, any player who entered the melee should have been DQ'ed. And no more football should have been played that day. The league should decide, when, or even if, the game should be resumed.

A poster, possibly on another forum, has stated that an official went into the stands to deal with a medical issue. That official has certified medical training. So yes, going into the stands to deal with that was most definitely the right thing to do.

You are either a Medical provider or a football official, not both. Never should you be providing medical assistance while you are wearing the stripes.
With that said, it was almost as if the officials helped stop the fight by going up there and did so without getting attacked.

Canadian law permits medically trained people (Certified First Aid and more) to act responsibly without fear of "malpractice".
If need be, I take off the stripes.
But to think that my status as an official should prevent me attending to an injured person is juvenile.

For me to switch from the officiating mode to the first aid mode, it would have to be a) a serious injury and b) no other remotely qualified people around. And I would never enter a fight in progress like the two officials do, stripes on or off - a fight is the job for the security and/or police, not for first aiders / medical practitioners.

Open your mind some. They didn't enter the fight. He attended to the injury.
FWIW, there was no security people there. (Which is a different argument.)

All that nonsense about officials going into the stands to render medical aide is a red herring. Take a look again. Nothing of the sort. Just some well intentioned officials who are lucky to still have their brains enclosed in their skulls. Swinging helmets, trash cans. Come on, that was just dumb....

LOL
I heard right from the source. As in someone who was actually there.
I'll take their word over what you think the video is missing anyday.

WOW :!#

Since it took place in Canada, its clear the fans must have confused football with hockey.

Ha ha that's what I said to a Canadian friend of mine here.
