Title: Assigning and paying assignments through websites
Post by: BryanM67 on October 20, 2010, 03:55:48 PM
Just wondering..

I am starting to find websites such as assignr.com and refpay.com designed to make assignments for officials/pay for services.  I know one assignor in my state that is using assignr.com to make assignments.

Just wondering if this is something that will catch on or if this is something that will get some resistance from those who are not as computer-savvy.

Disclaimer:  Not endorsing these websites..just want to see what people think of assigning/paying officials over the internet.

Our association uses The Arbiter and I think it works great.  A couple of people balked initially, but I'm pretty sure everyone is now onboard.

I think this is the third season we have used it if I remember correctly.

We've been on the Arbiter for many years now.  Not too many are using the Refpay function of it but I foresee it being forced on us at some point
.
The NCAA bought The Arbiter and is now doing all their assignments with it I believe.

It or some other version will be required by all but the smallest states at some point.

We've just started using Arbiter here in the UK.

This season, my HS association switched from Assignbyweb to Reftown.  Reftown is good.  I like the fact that I will received a text message whenever I receive an assignment or the assignment changed in some fashion.  Changes would include a change in officials, time of the game or cancellation.  We do not use it for payment tracking, etc.  It is simply for assigning purposes.
