If only there were somebody in a position of responsibility who could actually discipline players when they defy their assuredly-responsible coaching and play in a dangerous manner.  Perhaps he could stand on the sideline and wear a headset and a baseball cap, which he could throw on the floor when a personal foul gets called against his team.

I tell you, it's a radical new idea, but I think it just might work!

Nobody is accusing coaches of teaching players to hit with the helmet.  But when the coaches get orgasmic whenever they see a "big hit" and give the player tons of praise they are "teaching" it.  I will grant that sometimes the hit is not seen as illegal until the video is reviewed but they are "teaching" it to some degree with the over the top reactions they have to these hits. 

(PS  there are 3 NCAA players not playing this week due to conference reviews from last week.  Not one of the hits was flagged.)
