Title: New UIL Football Uniforms
Post by: secondeagle on November 10, 2010, 10:44:22 AM
I have not had the pleasure of seeing them, but understand from a friend that the "new" UIL basketball tops are "something". This put me to thinking (a dangerous thing) and I wondered what was in store if UIL get to run football. Maybe a lime green shirt with pink stripes. A big TT patch on both sleeves. (Not Texas Tech). Maybe chicken sh** yellow pants with purple stripes and brown arse end. The hat, I am thinking like a jockey, you could change it to fit the school colors of the school you are at.

As you can tell, am bored and waiting for news of the judge's decision. Hope it is good. Feel free to add any artistic suggestions to my uniform you feel the need to.

If I were to guess, I would say they will come out with their own hat with a stupid UIL on it and a new shirt with a patch to be purchased separately.  Anything to bump up that bank account.

Actually the only change to the basketball uniform is that everyone is wearing the gray pinstripe that has been worn by officials for several tournaments and other occasions for the last few years (plus the uil patch)

Just give good ole Ornery a call! I'll bet that he can tell you where he picked his up! Truth be told, I'd wager that he even helped the UIL pick out that exact color scheme! Why, he might even be wearing them to his bi-district chain job, whereever that might end up being!   z^

Exactly and a local TASO chapter to which I belong has also decided to adopt the grey shirt for everything (minus UIL patch of course).  There are also several other states that wear grey for basketball.  I do not mind the grey shirts, but I'm a little frustrated at having to buy new ones after having just bought new stripes as a rookie last year.

For football, I would not be surprised to see a UIL patch on the shirt and maybe even a UIL logo hat.

Maybe on your shirt or hat, but not mine!

Ornery1 you'd stand in line to get 666 on your forehead if the UIL were handing it out.

Okay, I'll probably get arrested for treason or something along those lines (maybe not under this administration but we'll keep politics out of it) but I don't agree with having different color flags on officiating uniforms based on whether or not you are or were in the military.  Don't get me wrong, I come from a LONG line of military families, my family included, but shouldn't our officiating uniforms all be the same with the possible exception of designating the position we work?  Really, gold for military, white for civilian?  Next thing we'll have blue for congressmen, pink if you had cancer, rainbows if...nevermind, you get my point.  I'll be the first to stand up for our military in this country, but not for different flag colors in a totally unrelated cause.   ^no

We use gold for TX high school and white for college.

From usflag.org:

"The gold trim is generally used on ceremonial indoor flags that are used for special services and is believed to have been first used in a military setting. It has no specific significance that I have ever run across, and its (gold trim) use is in compliance with applicable flag codes and laws."

It appears the US Army started this practice in the 1800's.

I may get gold trim around my flag?

At last, basic training, not seeing my family for a year at a time and all of those MRE's are finally worth it.

I kind of like this idea, but only because it makes me feel special. :)

Research in the last few years at Oxford University on papyrus scrolls found in Egypt seems to indicate that 616 is actually the correct number and 666 might well be a mistranslation error in the Middle Ages that has perpetuated.

Or perhaps 666 is the Cellphone number of the beast?

Don't be ridiculous, we both know full well that 666 is the emergency number in Australia.
