Was on here a few days ago and someone had started a list of the crews working the different games. The only thing I can find now is the list of which conference is working the game.

I have been told that some conferences have told their officials not to release that information so we felt it was best to keep it off of here for privacy and security reasons. I believe McReff77 is still working on compiling that list though.

As part of the process to discontinue the posting, I've decided to also stop compiling the list. This can be very time consuming to compile. As Grant mentioned, this is out of respect for various conferences and their commitment to protecting the privacy of its officials. My apologies to all those expecting a list.
Happy holidays to everyone! Enjoy the bowl season.

Privacy? They are all made public at each game site and in the game reports. I have already been told the officials for the CFA Bowl. I found your list very interesting and informative.
I understand some not wanting it released early, but that's not really "privacy".

AB, I don't think the conferences want the names released before the game...during and after the game is perfectly fine.

I'll go ahead and post the list after the final game. Happy New Year to everyone!

Until a few years ago, generally on the first penalty of a game, the TV folks would flash up the list of the entire crew on the screen. I have not seen any do that now for several years. Wonder why they stopped?
-
Cause the conferences won't release their names.....it's a big privacy issue you know. LOL

I don't understand that one either. In basketball, networks show name of the 3 officials right before tipoff. Baseball same way, usually right before first pitch. This is done in college games and pro games. But you never see it in football. Only the R and as TXMike said, usually on the first penalty. ???

They sometimes will mention another official on a big play, but not often. I don't know why. The crew is usually listed in the game programs.

I agree, what is the issue with letting the names become available prior, during, and after? The names are listed in the box scores on the internet afterwards. Its not like they are listing home addresses and phone numbers...
-
I would guess they don't want them released prior because then someone could attempt to contact them to get information or try to bribe or influence them. Putting their name in the program or showing during the broadcast does not impact that.

While I'm sure that plays into the line of thinking, it's pretty short sighted, as the bowl officials and even the schools know who will be doing the game days, if not weeks before the game is played.
