Title: Horsecollar or Not?
Post by: JasonTX on December 21, 2010, 06:34:27 PM
Take a look at this video and tell me if you have a foul or no foul for a horsecollar.  The video is not the best.  Assume that the hand was inside the collar of the runner.  You are judging on whether it was immediate or not.

Textbook*, under the heavy proviso that what actually happened is what I think I saw on that substandard vid.

*Yer Canadian textbook, that is.

I say "yes"  it looks like horsecollar tackle.  What is the story behind this?  Was there some controversy?

The question that came up on this play is, "what is immediate?"  The B player appears to get his hand inside the collar around the 43 to 44 yd. line, and the take down didn't happen until the 40.

His head came down at the 43 1/2 so there is no question  ^flag

Also in regards to immediate - it was in Texas so that could mean anytime in the next 48 hours  ;D
