I think this brings about an interesting discussion in flag-throw philosophy. I say this because I've done NFHS rules, as well as Canadian ones. The latter works much differently, with application at a number of different points - but usually PLS and point ball held. However, why bother throwing the flag into a mound of players for additive fouls (UR for us in most cases and OC; PF and UC for you.) I mean, 30 yards is a hell of a long way to throw a flag.

Additionally, I have heard of a general philosophy that one should not call a foul that occurs at a distance greater than one can hurl a flag. This is obviously an exception.

Post by: Osric Pureheart on December 27, 2010, 01:54:13 PM: There is a school of thought that says that while it's not essential by any means, it does get a lot easier to sell the call the closer the flag gets to the exact spot of the foul (although of course getting it to the correct yard line takes priority if you need to know where it is).
