Just cuz we haven't had any rules questions in a while I thought I'd throw an extra period question out there.
3rd and goal at the 15 in the 1st extra period as A40 is at the 5 yard line approaching the EZ for a TD and he starts pointing to the sky and high steps from the 5 to the goal line . ^flag What's the procedure now?

Insufficient information, but this is a live ball foul (new for 2011), the TD is canceled, and the 15-yard penalty is enforced at the spot of the foul, repeat the down. So, we don't know down and distance, but the succeeding spot will be the B-20, and A40 has an Unsportsmanlike Conduct charged to him; if that was his second of the game, he's DQ'd. Other than there is no game clock, no difference from regulation play.

Why do we not have enough information?

Why do we not have enough information?
Because the penalty does not specify an automatic first down (or I'm blatantly going to assume it won't - the rule book isn't out yet), we need to know the original down and distance to rule if it is going to be 1st and 10 from the B-20 or not.

Ok, I have changed the original question to include the down and distance.

For daily rules questions, check out speaking officially on facebook.
I would imagine that this would be a repeat the down penalty.

OK, 3rd /G, B-20.

I doubt there would be a change to award an automatic first down after a Team A foul. ;D
Treating an USC foul during a Try or in EPs as a live-ball foul has been the norm for several years. I don't think they will be a change in penalty administration for those fouls.

You mean after a change of team possession, right?

I do now.
Thanks for the correction.
