Title: Uniform question (again)
Post by: Ftblref on April 11, 2011, 10:24:52 AM
I was watching a couple of spring games on TV and it looked like some of the officials had pants that had wider stripes. They looked like they matched the shirts. Any body noticed this or know? Just wondering.

Thanks.

I would check because they did have the blank pants with 2" stripe and black pants with 1" stripe.

Gerry Davis' pants originally had a 1" stripe until the standard was set at 1 1/4".  Honig's description of both their standard and lightweight pant indicate that
Quote
The 1 1/4" white stripe running from waist to cuff conforms to NCAA/NFHS specifications.
.  If anybody is going to know and get it right its Dick Honig.

Smitty, RefShop, Cliff Keen, Dalco, Pro Ref,all indicate 1 1/4" stripe in their descriptions.

I think there were some random musings that the NCAA might come up with a 2" stripe pant to match the 2" stripe shirts and HS would keep the 1 1/4" striped shirts  & pants as some sort of differing of the uniform by level.  Maybe you saw a "concept pant"?
