Someday, we'll see something like a team maybe named "Tartans" will install a plaid field.
Here is the latest I found, Purple and Gray at Univ. of Central Ark.

Truly, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and sometimes that can cause problems. Football is a wonderful game designed to be played on a grass field, under a clear sky on a crisp afternoon. Sometimes that's just not possible as night games under the lights are played when it's way to warm, or cold. Changing the color (and texture) of the grass is something advances in technology allows us to do. It doesn't require, however, that we do so.
There are those who just cannot resist changing things regardless of how well they are working, how well they perform, or how much others appreciate them.

Watching the Eastern Washington-Villanova FCS nee' 1AA game made my head hurt. I guess its neat you can get the plastic grass in your school colors but I'm a traditionalist.

It does look a bit odd, but at least it's a relatively muted colour scheme so it might just work. Just imagine if Boise State decided to go with a stripy field!
-
Love it. Admittedly, a large part of that is because I enjoy watching the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth from traditionalists.

Just imagine if Oregon decided to color-coordinate it's field to correspond to the home team uniforms being worn on a given day!

A local HS in our area

obviously their claim of being the "only 2 tone non-green in the nation" is dated.

A more important question might be, "Did it EVER matter?"

REPLY: It did to the poor contestant who got it as his "Daily Double" question on Jeopardy! under the Ugly Playing Surfaces category

Hate it!!!!!!!! I am not necessarily a traditionalist. I just think some of the colors have an adverse effect on participants and fans. If it isn't addressed we could see something as painful as lime green or dayglow orange before long.

Awful. Stick to green! You want your team/school/program to stand out? Do it through playing!
