Title: Penalty enforcement on a scoring play
Post by: KirbyB on October 16, 2011, 09:55:02 AM
Situation: A scores a TD and during the down there is illegal contact due to the official running into a coach in the restricted area on A.  After the score, A1 is flagged for USC due to excessive celebration.

The way I understand it, the score stands and B can enforce on the try and have A attempt the try from the 33 OR B can enforce on the kick and have A (now K) kick from the 12.5

Question: 1) Is the enforcement I have correct? 2) can B enforce one foul on the try and one foul on the kick off?

If two fouls occur that meet the criteria in 8-2, they can both fouls be assessed on the try or the kickoff or the fouls can be enforced separately, one on the try and one on the kickoff.

FBUmp reports what I, too, understand to be the usual interp: multiple succeeding-spot fouls may be separated, so that some are enforced on the try and some on the kickoff.
