Title: Pass Interference Question
Post by: RickKY on October 24, 2011, 08:35:57 AM
Cincinnati @ South Florida:  Both receiver and defender are running along the sideline on a deep route, with defender leading the way.  The receiver ran up the back of the defender and the covering official threw his flag.  Both A and B players were actually OOB when the contact occured.  DPI was the call.  Pass was overthrown and incomplete, arguably uncatchable.  Can you have a PI foul when one or both players are OOB?  Note:  The contact did not cuase them to be OOB.

Can't have PI against an ineligible receiver, which the team A player was. Could have OPI, as the team B player remains eligible.
