Just had a question for 1-AA officials. Does your conference fly you to the games or do you have to drive like d 2? Also do you have to be at your location Friday night or the day of the game? Thanks

Typically you get there however you see fit. If it's under a certain distance or I can meet up with someone along the way, I'll drive. Otherwise, I fly.
They don't care as long as you're there on time. Crew usually does dinner and pregame on Friday night for a Saturday afternoon game. The hotel may or may not be paid for- depends on the conference.
I usually weigh (1) the driving distance, (2) the cost of the flight, and (3) if I need to pay for an extra night in a hotel becuase I couldn't get a flight out on Saturday night to decide what to do. The cost comes out of my game fee.

If it's not too personal to ask, what do they allow for you? Do they have a mileage rate or transportation reimbursement? How about per diems?

I've been curious about this myself. eAt&

It depends on the conference. Mine are all flat fees so I get a check for the same amount no matter how I decide to get there. No mileage rate. No per diems.
For one conference I work if it's over 300 miles from my house to the school they add 100 bucks to the check.

When I worked in an FCS conference, we also received a flat rate. We were responsible for our own travel, hotel, meals, etc.

Each conference is different. In the OVC, we are paid a flat fee and the home team provides four hotel rooms on Friday night. We are required to be in city of the game site on Friday night for dinner with the crew and film review. Fly or drive is a personal call based on distance.

if you dont mind me asking are your game fees usually enough to cover flights? in d2 i am only getting 250 a game which wouldn't cover a trip anywhere. I know the big boys (d1) makes upwards of 1200 a game but don't know much about 1aa
