I have 2027 in the pool as the next time Lake Travis or Dawson uses the Dallas Chapter again. Sensitive Dallas officials: Dont read this as I dont believe there were 41 penalties, read it as Lake Travis and Dawson will remember this and blame you for it.... for a long long long time.

I'll take 3011. That way, everyone connected with Dawson or Lake Travis in 2011 will most likely be dead.

As I understand, they were requested by the schools and not assigned by the Chapter.

I could very well imagine that this might be the very last time that either of those schools would ever place a call again to :bOW tiphat: Manor Road :!# to request UIL assigned officials! z^

What makes it worse is that I understand the same crew may have had the Manvel game today and it was just as bad. Game ended and was won on a field goal during an untimed down after a helmet to helmet contact call by the referee.
-
It wasn't the same crew.
I know all the guys on the crew. They are very experienced and aren't flag happy as a rule. If they threw 41 flags, they felt like there were 41 fouls. If it had an effect on the game, that's the teams' responsibilities. It sounds like the game was a disaster and the losing coach is just looking to blame someone else for the loss.

I stand corrected!!!

Kudos to the crew from Houston that worked the 3A Division 1 game in Arlington. Only 1 flag in the 1st half and about 5 total. They did a super job and let the kids play. Mechanically they were sharp, the L made a great OOB call in the ez on a fade route, and they were nearly invisible. Exactly what you want from a state final crew...and no UIL hats! :thumbup

Half of the fouls were deadball LOS fouls. Dawson accused LT of mimicking the snap count all game. LT is very aggressive with their shifting of the Defense prior to the snap. Apparently there were a number of deadball PF fouls on Dawson as well.

A good ump will detect mimicked snap counts. I've only seen it done three times in 15 years.
41 penalties is rather hefty. Then again, I worked deep in a game where we had 27, photo lensand it was the best game I worked all season - we did our job, but the kids didn't wanna play football. (I think we had seven UR {PF) fouls and a half-dozen OC {Unsportsmanlike} for various stupid things, including words I can't print in the newspaper.)
But I'd like to see what those 41 fouls were, and see the game, before passing judgment good or ill on the crew.
