In most circumstances players throwing a flag may be a foul, but if you hit the guy with it and he is possibly throwing it back to you, should that be flagged?

It is obviously penalized as "unsportmanship like conduct" LOL
I am glad I dont have to wear a microphone or I would make everyones highlights

I thought that was "unique" as well and first thought it was a slip of the tongue. But thanks to Ariozona State's lack of discipline, the R got to announce that type foul more than once and that is how he announces it. So then I went to Google and guess what...LOTS of folks say "unsportsmanship like ". ;D

Do you blame the player for tossing the flag after being hit with it?
-
I would be more likely to look past it but there is no automatic free pass.

Nope! I would have to give him a pass on this. First, he made a good catch of the flag; and secondly, he just gave it a easy toss back to the guy who threw it to him - nothing disrespectful here.
Having once deposited a flag in a player's ear-hole, I would give the player a LOT of leeway.....

If it is not a spot foul (even if it is) don't throw near players, throw down towards the yard line.

I was in the chat room with some guys last night when it happened and said the following to the guys. If he had explained what happened to the referee, they might have picked up the flag. It really looked like he threw they flag in jest.

At the college level, the kid ought to know better.

I dont think this should've been unsportsmanlike(ship) conduct at all. maybe maybe maybe if you heard the player say F.You to the official as he threw it. but the body language suggests nothing other than a playful toss back to the official.
HERE'S an clear cut example of an UNS flag chuck from the nfl. (does anyone here speak portuguese?)
