Title: Don't Get in Holly's Way...
Post by: TXMike on January 04, 2012, 06:17:25 PM
Whether it is in a buffet line or interviewing the winning coach after a game...DO NOT get in her way.   ;D

Did you notice the go to hell look the other reporter gave her?  That would be interesting, a cat fight between sports reporters. LOL

Make sure ESPN doesn't find your video!  They have already pulled down a number of copies that were on Youtube today, as well as one the NY Times was referencing.  I think they were a little embarrassed by this one.

And Holly Rowe claims she didn't even know she did it, which seems like total crap as she can be seen saying something to the other reporter.

Of course, Ndomakong Suh doesn't think he stomped on the Packers player, either.

There definitely is a pecking order when TV is paying big bucks to televise the game.  I have no problem moving this little radio reporter out of the way....make room for the paying customers. pHiNzuP

The pecking order in sports reporters is clear: 1) Sponsor TV 2) TV 3) Print 4) Radio 5) Bloggers

I don't for a minute think this was a question of the radio reporter "learning her place." She has the attention of the coach and is in the middle of a sentence asking a question when this bozo comes barging in and literally shoves her out of the way. A better piece of advice for the TV talking head is to learn some manners. JMO.

I don't know how true this is but a media type once told me that part of the contract between networks and certain games gave the network's folks the right to 1st interview with certain folks (i.e. coaches) before any other media interview.

Tell you what, the folks that cover NASCAR seem to be very, very well-versed for who has 'dibs'.  Any time the TV guy wants an interview everyone backs away & once the TV guy is done you can see the 'official' radio broadcast guy waiting in the wings.

Daytona is just a month and half away! Go 24. He just needs a trustworthy partner.

Absolutely true.

In the NFL, NO onfield interviews are allowed except by the TV rightsholder.  This rule is often violated as long as the TV rightsholder got their interviews first.

But that "first access" is part of what the rightsholders are getting as part of their significant fee.

Someone once told me that she was pretty cool and friendly on the sideline, unlike some of the others who can be downright nasty.

As others noted, TV folks in such instances, sometimes have a first exclusive.

That said, sometimes, there are total pricks in the news biz. Last time I had a CBC vixen do this, I developed a sudden *COUGH* case of *WHEEZE* really *HACK* *SPLUTTER* *COUGH* bad *CHOKE* bronchitis. It magically cured itself when the CBC vixen ended her radio interview.

So Holly has the Suh-syndrome?!
I would like to have seen the little gal punch Holy Roll right in her round face. It's a good thing she didn't try that crap with Erin!
