2012 OFFICIATING UNIFORM
The basic uniform for 2012 remains unchanged from 2011. However, the following items are important for a consistent appearance among conferences and at all levels of officiating:
DP PATCH The “DP” patch to honor Dave Parry will not be worn in 2012. This was intended as a one-year addition to the uniform.
CAPS Black caps must have the traditional narrow white piping. There should be no other white on the cap, except the manufacturer’s logo is allowed.
White caps must be solid white with no black on the cap, except the manufacturer’s logo is allowed.
BEAN BAG Bean bags must be solid black.
PRE-GAME JACKETS If pre-game jackets are worn on the field they must be solid black.

Must not be a fan of the hats the Big 12 used this year.
Does anyone wear jackets anymore?
-
Has anyone seen a black bean bag? Looked at Honigs site and they only have white and blue.
I am sure they will have them by the time the season starts..................

Some guys gotta buy new bean bags, after buying all new bags last year. That's OK. I like that the NCAA will be 'uniform' again (except shoes).
The '12' coordinator will probably find some way to distinguish his guys. But, then, who knows? He may finally get his dream job, and won't be involved. But then, maybe not.
One FBS conference was allowed to have jackets in 2010, and a majority of crews had them. But jackets were politely banned for 2011. Don't know what this edict will yield, but, as has always been said, do what your coordinator says.

Officials Choice has black "skinny" bags
-
What was wrong with the royal blue bags? Black will probably get lost very easily.
-
I have no idea why they made the change but one guess would be to try to keep the uniform black and white (wth the exception of the yellow flag). A black bean bag blends into the uniform better than a blue one.

Big 12 went 1 for 2 as they have had black bags for a couple years. I bought them for my crew before this last season as they blend in well with the pants and are just as easy to find in the grass (or turf) as the blue. Plus I thought they looked better than the blue. Figured I'd ask for forgiveness instead of permission in case my supervisor didn't approve.
Bought mine through a place called 'flags and bags' (or was it 'bags and flags'?) in Sarasota, Florida.

Personally I like the skinny ones vs the honigs 'stay put'. I love the black bean bags bought enough for my whole crew this last year.

Ahhh... the sound of ringing cash registers... music to the ears of the suppliers and UPS. If the NCAA keeps changing the uniform requirements they'll soon be able to produce a full-blown live concert. Ca-ching!

I've never heard so much griping about a $4-5 piece of equipment in my life! Good grief, UPS is going to make more than the suppliers.

...UPS is going to make more than the suppliers.
So noted and amended.

Have your chapter secretary place a bulk order and dole them out at your first meeting of the season. Shippin costs per bag will be a lot less then if everyong ordered on their own.
-
For what it is worth, CFO members may get one in their packet this year. But, if you need more than one...
-
All this over a $6 bean bag? Too bad we don't get paid to do this... :sTiR:
