Several coaches in the local youth league teach a form of wedge blocking. The lineman will block with one arm less than 45 degrees extended from their body with hand clenched. The other arm will be extended and placed on the shoulder/back of the teammate next to them. Our local association has penalized when we believe the jersey has been grasped but we have allowed them to otherwise use this technique. Sometimes, they appear to be pushing their neighboring lineman, we have not penalized for that because it has not met our interpretation of interlocking, grasping or grabbing. Are we consistent with how you handle this blocking technique?

Unless I'm brain dead this morning (and I could be), I do not believe there is anything in the Fed rule book that prohibits what you describe.

Neither can I. As long as they're not grasping a teammate, and they're pushing another blocker rather than the runner, no flag.
