Hey guys. My crew here in WV has a game this week with a team from VA. We were wondering if Virginia has any crazy state adopted rules that we are not aware of. IN WV we dont let the players wear the bands above the elbow either. IS that permitted in VA? THanks in advance.
-
I can't think of any state-specific rules. Wristbands are supposed to be worn at the wrist, not up at the elbow or higher, but that's really an NFHS thing rather than a VA thing.
What's the WV mercy rule?
-
WV doesnt have a mercy rule. BY mutual consent periods maybe shortened per the NFHS rule, but other than that, thats it.
-
VA uses a running clock in the second half if the point differential is 35 or more, so that would be a good difference to discuss. Other than that, I can't come up with anything off the top of my head; I'll keep thinking about it in case there's something else I'm missing.
Or, one of my cohorts from the Commonwealth will surely chime in...

I don't think it matters, enforce the rules of your state and if the coach has a problem with it, he can have a conversation with your state director of officials.
-
You may want to check the overtime rules as well. That is a common one that varies by state.

Good catch, AB. Virginia uses the NFHS recommended overtime procedures.
