Noticed something interesting about my umpire's shoes when he was getting ready for our game on Saturday... he was wearing baseball umpire plate shoes.
He wore them because he was always getting stepped on as an umpire - you could hardly tell they were different unless you are specifically looking at his feet. Part of me was saying "wait, you can't wear those" and another part was saying "well, that's actually pretty smart."
Just curious... would any of you other umpires wear plate shoes?

I wore these for 5 years.

The original Reebok Field Magistrate had a TPU toe cap that offered some protection.

No. I've been stepped on before and I'd rather deal with that on occasion than cumbersome plate shoes.

I've spent most of 16 years in the umpire spot. Never remember this being a problem. Maybe the U needs to be more mobile.

i seem to remember an NFL U wore steel toe shoes. Of course he had to stencil on the Reebok logo.

I shoulda taken a picture of my foot....and they are very, very light shoes. I even wore them on the wings a few games.

I wear the MU460s for baseball and they are not much different. I couldn't imagine wearing them in a football game. Maybe that's just me.

This was my first pair of plate shoes. Very light and comfortable. Not clunky like normal plate shoes. If I were to wear them on the football field you would probably never notice.
