2009 Aloha videos

Thanks once again to Matt Sumstine for both creating these videos and allowing them to be posted out here for the officiating population.

The total size of these videos is almost 1.5gig so it might take a while to get them all downloaded.  If you plan to watch these multiple times or watch them in a crew setting, please download them and either save them to your computer or burn them to CD to help with bandwidth.  I'll watch the bandwidth closely over the next month or so.  I will buy more as needed to ensure that everyone has a chance to download these.

I'm sure Matt will be able to answer any questions you might have about the videos.  Please post them in this thread so everyone will know the answers.

2009 7-man Mechanics (167 Mb)
2009 Blocking (101 Mb)
2009 Catch, Fumble, and Goal Line (289 Mb)
2009 Holding and QB Plays (134 Mb)
2009 Kicking Game (194 Mb)
2009 Line Play (86 Mb)
2009 OPI, DPI, and Sideline Plays (199 Mb)
2009 Personal Fouls, Unusual, and Fun Plays (286 Mb)

All of these files are .wmv versions.  Let me know if you have any issues with these.

Thanks,
Grant - AR

Just watched one of the videos, again outstanding Matt.  Would like to save and use them at local association meetings but am not sure how to accomplish that task.  Can anyone help me with this?

You can right click on the links and choose "Save Target As."  Then you choose where you want to save the file on your computer.

Then copy them to a CD (or in this case it'll probably take 3 CDs). I used them for three meetings last year. Given the extra video Matt has this year, this year I'll probably take four meetings. They'll generate a lot of discussion unless your guys are brain-dead.

One comment: in the OPI/DPI/Sideline video, the second OPI is actually illegal touching in NF. In his narration Matt indicates that he's not quite sure of the NF rule.

One other thought: If your association is using these or if you personally feel inclined, a little contribution to Matt and his clinic would no doubt be appreciated.

I'm having trouble putting these videos on a DVD.  I am using a DVD+R disc.  I was able to do it last year. Any ideas?

I don't think you can burn these videos to DVD without converting them first.  They are in WMV format and will need to be converted to a different format.  You should be able to burn them to a CD that can be played on a computer.

A quick google search turned up the following information...FAQ2.4.

Last year I used DVD Flick. Free and fairly easy to use even for me.

Matt/Grant

You could also uplaod them at Vimeo (www.vimeo.com) (there are probably other similar sites). The benefit is they can be viewed online without downloading first, although you an get a download if you set it up right.

Also you can password protect (or not) if you want to keep the details within a select group.

I am not trying to tell you how to distribute the film as, of course, that is your call. However it might save you some bandwidth and give some people easier access.

You can only put up 500MB a week for free, unless you open up two accounts  Evil but that would get everything up within a month.

Sorry if it's not the sort of thing you want to do with your films and I have wasted your time making you read all this.

Just watched the kicking game video and it is terrific.  Can I ask what those backpacks are that I can see the officials wearing during the game?

Sorry if this has been answered previously.

The person with the pack has a camera on his hat. It is for TV games. I do not like it but it is up to the league to determine what is acceptable.
