Back as an auxiliary official & Running the clocks...
« on: September 03, 2019, 06:02:59 AM »
Well thought I would be able to make it back on the field, but alas my plans did not materialize (Due to other commitments), so I decided to sign up as an auxiliary football official instead.

Had my first game last Thursday on the chains, then as a scoreboard operator on Friday (very rare assignment from what I have been told), which gave me a chance to observe the game/play clock operators. The game on Friday ended late due to a late start due to a lightning delay and I did not get home till 12.30 Saturday morning.

Now that I have gotten my tale of woe over with :D Does anyone have any tips on running the game/play clock. I already have a couple of helpful documents (Houston chapter powerpoint on running the game/play clock, a cheat sheet of when to run the 25 second play clock and a cheat sheet on general play clock operation, the latter two were kindly provided by an official on a crew).

Just wanted some other fellow officials insight :)
