Open air stadia
ElvisLives:
A couple of my buddies had the Buffalo game last Sunday. They survived, but it wasn’t much fun.
Buffalo has a long, long history of having games with snow-covered fields. Who remembers OJ Simpson setting the season rushing record on a snow covered field? (My hand is raised.)
In this day and time, having to put up with those weather conditions is insane. There is no good reason that EVERY NFL stadium isn’t permanently enclosed, or has a retractable roof.
Picking on Buffalo as an example of egotistical insanity, even with their history of miserable weather games, they - the local citizenry - embrace those conditions as some sort of “home field advantage.” Well, that’s one way to be positive about a situation that couldn’t be helped when that stadium was built. Granted, the Super Bowls, themselves, haven’t been played in Buffalo. But, Buffalo is 0-4 in Super Bowls. Their all-time record in December is 106-129-1. A distinctly losing record. Maybe they would have been in more Super Bowls if they played in better weather in November-December.
During the game Sunday, in the background, you could see their new stadium being constructed. You might think their cold-weather woes would be a thing of the past. Well, you’d be wrong. YET ANOTHER OPEN AIR STADIUM. How moronic can you be?
We need a Constitutional amendment to prohibit construction of future open air stadiums above Florida. OK, well, at least above the Mason-Dixon Line.
Geez. Since most stadia are built with public funds, I’d be having my lawmakers impeached if they approved an open air stadium in areas prone to weather below 40 degrees on a predictable basis.
No excuse for such stupidity.

All the stadiums in the south should be closed in. It gets too hot and humid.
If the owners can sell the tickets, let them decide how to build their stadium.

No argument on either point. I was only being facetious about the constitutional amendment. Way more important things than this that need political intervention. But, IMHO, it is just plain stupidity to not build enclosed/enclosable stadia in this day and time.

Another team moving indoors.

I'm sorry, but having attended outdoor freeze bowl games in Buffalo, Atlanta & New York, I can say it's an experience like no other and makes you feel like an OG football fan.
Businesses can do what they want, but I find attending games at Mercedes Benz and other indoor stadiums to be way too sterile.
