Enforcement - Dead Ball Foul After 4th Down
« on: September 14, 2021, 08:31:55 AM »
4th and 10 for A from 50 yard line. A runs for 5 yards and is tackled by B at B's 45 yard line where B taunts A. This would be a 15 yrd penalty but it would be B's fall from their own 30 and not A's ball, right?

Yes. Series ended with A in possession behind the line to gain. It's B's ball at that point, provided there was no live ball foul. The dead ball foul essentially happened with B in possession.

LAAT (lets add a tweak)…

(1)  ^flag for A,s hold @ B's 46 + B's USC;

(2)   ^flag for B's 5yd FM @ EOR ,6 YD gain then A's USC.

1. Deal with live ball first. B would likely decline A's hold, leaving them in possession after 4th down behind the line, so B's ball. Then mark off B's dead ball, first and 10. If B accepts A's foul, mark off 10 against A, which includes a replay of the down.  Then mark off 15 against B, making it first down for A.

2. Deal with live ball first. Mark off the 5 against B, set the down box, signal first down. Then mark off B's USC, set the chains. First and 10 for A.

Calhoun nailed it aWaRd ! We had one a few years ago that was testing....
 (1) 4/10 @ 50;
 (2) QB is tackled by PFFM @ B's 48;
 (3) QB then drills the tackler in the back with the football;
 (4) U  sNiCkErS & I took journey to B's 33 & signaled 38,46, & 8;
 (5) We then returned to B's 48 & signaled 7,27 & 8.

B's coach called for an official's "chat". He had but one question : "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING  ??? ?"
I responded : "AYUH, just trying to show everyone why it would be 1st & 10  8]" In leaving he said : " I don't mind a good argument, but I wouldn't know what the heck I'd be arguing about  ::) ?".

…..and the band played on.
