Tsunami hits Hawaii

I was very concerned about all folks in Hawaii, especically our officiating brethren and friends. But, it looks like the tsunami was relatively benign, with no significant damage - at least not to Oahu. That's good news. So, it looks like it won't be any problem when it hits the west coast of our mainland, or Alaska.
Thank goodness for that, but what a tragedy in Japan.
I was in Anchorage, Alaska in 1964 when it was hit by the Richter 9.2 Good Friday quake. Houses heaved and dropped into tundra pits; one wall of the downtown JC Penney building sheared off, all utilities disrupted, roads disheveled. We had to boil tap water (for drinking water) for weeks. All of that, and we weren't a major population center. Imagine what is happening in densely packed Japan.

As if the world economy needed any more bad news...
