Round Rock v Steele
« on: December 19, 2020, 09:03:51 AM »
Watched most of the game, was wondering what chapter the crew was from.
Play situation, personal foul on a scoring play in OT, what are the enforcement options?

  • The rules are there if you need them.

Know nothing of the referenced game.

Need more detail re: Personal Foul on a scoring down in extra periods. Which team scored? Which team fouled? What was the foul? First or second series of the period? TD or field goal? Assume to be live-ball UNR (was it?). Also assume foul was ruled not to be flagrant (or, was it?).

OT, first possession a face mask foul on the defense on a touchdown play. The R stated "by rule" only enforcement spot was the try. Wasn't this a rule change this season?

Yes it was. Personal fouls and UNS fouls on touchdowns can now carry over to the succeeding spot in OT.

Yeah, that helps. As Legacy says, the 2020 rule change would allow Team A to enforce the penalty on the try, or, at the succeeding spot for Team B's possession - Team A's choice. In these circumstances, 99.99% of the time, I'm certain A would penalize at the succeeding spot.  Maybe 100% of the time.

In my experience, when you have a rule change on something so unusual - and somewhat complex - most people will remember the old rule. Then, when folks let them know they messed up, they never miss that again (for other 2 times it might happen to them in the next 10 years).

And rest assured plenty of us here will let them know.   ;D
