Hmmm. You don’t suppose the fact Houston has twice the population of any other Texas city has anything to do with that, do you? Yes, keep doin’ your thing. You are needed to work all of those games. But geographical population has far more to do with totals per chapter than anything.
All of the rest of us will keep doin’ our things, too.
Have a great weekend, everybody.

^^ what he said.  Houston chapter assignment numbers are roughly in line with their percentage of overall TASO membership; like Elvis said, coaches aren't picking Houston because it's Houston, but more likely, that Houston is the closest chapter, or that's who calls their home games anyways, particularly with 5A and up.

Eventually I'd like to heat map the games by chapter, to see how far chapters are going outside their local area.  Right now, my instinct (from looking at this spreadsheet constantly) says Houston isn't getting much outside their local area matchups, unlike a couple other chapters.

That would be interesting to see who is really getting out of area games.

I also think an interesting stat to add would be if a game was UIL assigned. 1. To see how far the UIL will reach to cover games mileage wise. 2. To see what level of games that go to the UIL are assigned to which chapters if there is a pattern. Just something that interests myself.

I would think your TASO Rep would be able to get that information.

I think it would be really cool if somebody, that had the time and technology, would develop a program that, on a map of Texas, could mark the physical location of every playoff game, along with some sort of tag indicating the chapter working each game. Then have it morph each week of the playoffs, to show the migration of playoff game locations.
Out of my league. But, I'd bet there is somebody out there that can do that.

That is on my bucket list for this project!  To map out all the playoff games, and then be able to overlay chapters to show who has what.  I *think* Excel can do this but it's out of current skillset LOL.

I've done something similar to show where each of our members are from and can see them on a map.  Sometimes I figure out how to do these things and don't have a clue as to how I done it.

Coach, I got it right. I don’t how I got it right. But I got it right.  :)
