O2O Systems
« on: July 11, 2024, 02:43:36 PM »
We (my crew), like everyone else has been using O2O for several years now. We've tried a couple of different systems and headset combos but have not been overwhelmed by any of them. Occasional interruptions and or issues with understanding crewmates contribute to some dissatisfaction. Don't get me wrong, we will never go away from O2O, the benefits are too great. So my question is, what do you guys use, system and headset? Are you happy with them, does anyone have great success with  what they are using? Thanks in advance for your help.

Midland radios with the Good Call Officiating headset. It has a large PTT button on your waist, and sound quality is absolutely unmatched, IMO. I always struggled to understand what was being said on the lower quality headsets, and there is a MASSIVE difference in quality between the typical radio headset and the Good Call ones. Only downside is cost - about $65 I think for each one. But, it's well worth it.

And to add to this.  I love the Good Call headset.  But one thing I added to it was the ear piece that you can heat up and mold to your specific ear.  This was a game changer for me to be able to better hear and understand what's being said.

Where did you get the earpiece?

Totally forgot about that - yes, the actual earpiece insert makes a big difference as well, it helps block out a significant amount of crowd noise as well.  I use one called Decibullz from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Decibullz-Security-Surveillance-Thermo-Fit-Awareness/dp/B08WJPNRZJ/

edit: there's two different ones on that link - awareness and isolation. I went with isolation, to block as much ambient noise as possible. You may want to have some sound pass through, strictly a personal preference.

I use the same one posted by Michael.  It's $24 on Amazon.

Not really related, but the best investment I ever made - especially during my FBS air travelling days, are my Bose headphones. Took a trip last week (by air), and forgot my Bose. Frickin' miserable. Incredible how much better they make my life.

Sorry. Just had to yak.

I used to travel extensively for work pre-Covid and I completely agree - they were game changers in comfort and quality.

If Bose ever made an earpiece/microphone combo I 100% would buy it in a second.
