For 4 or 5 man mechanics, R has the runner & the spot to the LOS.
What about 7-man?

'Generally,' the Line Judge has this responsibility in crews of 7.

In our 7-man mechanics, the wings have FP all the way. We float the H if he reads pass and keep the L on the line to rule on forward-backward on short passes behind the line. If it's a straightforward run, then the wings will have FP. If it's a scramble or delayed run, the L will have it for the most part, unless it's clearly in the H's zone. The R will keep track of the ball, but we also have responsibility for unnecessary contact on the QB after a handoff or pass.
