Art of Officiating web site
« on: August 17, 2012, 04:16:37 PM »
For your officiating edification, I've posted hundreds of "Forward Progress" submissions on the website www.artofofficiating.com from one of Colorado Springs' finest officials, Ray Lutz.  I started officiating football in 2007 and have saved every post from that year until 2012.

Ray Lutz officiated his first basketball game in Iowa in 1959. He moved to Colorado Springs in 1965. Since then he has officiated more than 2,400 varsity contests, 500 playoff games including 18 state championship football and basketball games, and more than 20 state track and field meets.

In addition to the impact hes made on youth, coaches and other officials, Lutz has been a Special Olympics coach for 16 years, a volunteer Parks and Recreation coach, and a Colorado Football Officials Association vice president. He also founded the Pikes Peak Track and Field Officials Association and continues to serve as president. Lutz taught elementary and adaptive physical education in District 11 from 1965 to 1995.

I've categorized the posts for easier viewing.  Since some of our rules have changed over the years, if you find something that is no long accurate, could you please send me an E-mail at afsst@yahoo.com and I'll make the correction.

I hope you enjoy his posts as much as I have.

I remember working with Ray in my first year of officiating in Colorado Springs in '87.  Great guy and mentor.

Best regards,

Brad

Ray Lutz's "Forward Progress" is once again back in business.  You can go to the www.artofofficiating.com web site and register to receive his daily articles.  Or you can just look at prior years' posts.

Hope you enjoy!
