OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE
« on: November 27, 2025, 05:32:51 PM »
THE NFL put as point of emphasis on ROUGHING THE PASSER for the past several years to the point of being absurd. It is a shame that the league seems to forget that OPI is a foul. These player CHICKEN FIGHT both offense and defense with no call which is good BUT if any contact by a DB occurs, it is DPI , even if the offensive player almost assault the DB. it has reached a point no matter what game, when I see a flag on a pass, it is always going to be DPI.  i  really doubt the NFL will ever change this situation.

What a coincidence — there was an OPI call in the NFL game that was airing about the time you posted!

Which was the only situation where they call OPI, another receiver blocking downfield to clear a defender. Rarely the push off to create separation with the defender.

Have seen a lot more OPI called this year, likely because the players have actually been doing it.
But the stats don't suggest it's been forgotten.
A site I found (if accurate) shows:
2025, 75 OPIs have been called so far.
2024-31 OPIs total
2023 - 89 OPIs total
