I whipped this one out before heading to the shower to get ready for work.
1. Free Kick @ A-35. Before the opening kickoff, the visiting team is wearing their home red jerseys and the home team is wearing their blue jerseys. There was no agreement by the two teams prior to the game and when requested, the visiting team had no white jerseys with them to change into. The visiting team receives the opening kickoff, and B80 fair catches the ball at the B-5.
RULING:
B, 1/10, B-12 1/2, snap (25). Team B has two timeouts remaining.
After the ball is ready for play and before the ball is kicked, Team B is charged with a team timeout. After the kickoff down, Team B is penalized 15 yards at the succeeding spot (B-25, after the fair catch behind the B-25) for a Team UNS for illegal jerseys.
2. Free Kick @ A-35. Before the opening kickoff, the visiting team is wearing their home red jerseys and the home team is wearing their blue jerseys. There was no agreement by the two teams prior to the game and when requested, the visiting team had no white jerseys with them to change into. The visiting team receives the opening kickoff, and B80 returns the kick for a touchdown.
RULING:
B, try B-3, no clock (25), with free kick at the B-20, OR
B, try, B-18, no clock (25), with free kick at the B-35. Team B has two timeouts remaining.
After the ball is ready for play and before the ball is kicked, Team B is charged with a team timeout. After the kickoff down, Team B is penalized 15 yards at the succeeding kickoff following the try, OR Team B is penalized 15 yards on the try, with the succeeding kickoff at the B-35.
3. 3/10 @ B-35. Airborne A88 receives A12’s legal forward pass at Team B’s 15-yard line. While still airborne, A88 is contacted by B21 and A88 comes to the ground out of bounds with the ball at Team B’s 14-yard line.
RULING:
A, 4/10, B-35, snap (40 and running).
Incomplete forward pass. Even when contacted by an opponent, an airborne player who secures a loose ball must return to the ground inbounds to be credited with a catch/recovery.
4. 3/10 @ B-35. Airborne A88 receives A12’s legal forward pass at Team B’s 15-yard line. While still airborne, A88 is contacted by B21 and A88 is clearly held up and prevented from returning to the ground and comes to the ground out of bounds with the ball crossing the boundary at Team B’s 14-yard line.
RULING:
A, 1/10, B-15, ready (40 and running).
When so held that his progress is stopped, an airborne player that secures a loose ball is credited with possession, the ball is immediately dead, and progress is to the point he is held by opponents.
5. 4/10 @ A-30. A90’s punt is rolling along the ground near players A44 and B27 who are engaged. The ball bounces against B27’s leg at the B-37 and is then recovered by A55 at the B-35.
RULING:
A, 1/10, B-35, snap (25).
The touching by B27 is NOT forced touching, and it allows Team A to legally recover the ball.
6. 4/10 @ A-30. A90’s punt is rolling along the ground near players A44 and B27 who are engaged. A44 blocks B27 into the ball at the B-37 and then the ball is recovered by A55 at the B-35.
RULING:
B, 1/10, B-35, snap (25).
The forced touching by B27 is ignored, and Team B is awarded a series at the spot where A55 illegally possessed the kicked ball.
7. Free Kick @ A-35. After a Touchdown and successful 2 point try, Team A trails 24 – 22 with 0:55 left in the 4th quarter. Team A intends to try an on-side free kick. Kicker A90 holds the ball as if he will attempt a drop kick. A-90 then tosses the ball up in the air and the ball bounces just behind Team A’s restraining line and then A90 kicks the ball after it bounces several feet into the air.
RULING:
A, kickoff, A-30, free kick timing (25).
Illegal kick, dead-ball foul. The 5-yard penalty is enforced at the succeeding spot.
8. 1/10 @ A-30. QB A12 throws a legal forward pass, and receiver A88 first touches the pass when the ball is 1 1⁄2 yards beyond the neutral zone. The receiver’s back foot is not beyond the neutral zone. After the catch, A88 runs to the A-40. A80 was downfield blocking B21 at the A-35 when the pass was released.
RULING:
A, 1/25, A-15, ready (25).
The location of the receiver is irrelevant. The legally forward passed ball was clearly beyond the NZ when it was touched, which makes A80’s blocking downfield offensive pass interference. The 15 yard penalty is enforced at the previous spot, taking the ball to the A-15, with 1st down repeated.
