Title: Screen Passes

In the NFL, linemen can't block more than 3 yards past LOS until the ball crosses
the LOS and is caught.

The college rule differs in that linemen can block downfield after the ball leaves the
QB's hand if the pass is thrown behind the LOS.

Is this basically right?

If the lineman is legally downfield, he can block. It doesn't matter if its before or after the QB releases the pass. Blocking downfield becomes an issue only when a forward pass crosses the NZ.

NFL: Can't be more than a yard past the LOS until the pass has been thrown.
