I'd appreciate just a quick overview on the defenses'
ability to return blocked kicks -- punts, FG's and PAT's.
Also, the differences, if any, between NFL and NCAA.
Thank you.
-
NFHS- punts, FG's yes, try=no, ball is dead when the kick is unsuccessful, B can not score on a try
-
NCAA - if ball remains behind NZ all blocks are live and can be advanced by either team.
If, prior to player possession, the ball crosses the NZ only the receiving team may advance ball. It would become dead upon possession by a kicking team player or simultaneous possession.
Edit: There is an exception to the above in Texas HS 6-man, which negates any defensive advance of a try. The ball is declared dead when possession changes or the try is obviously unsuccessful.

FED - Defense cannot score on a try.
NCAA - Defense can score on a try.
NFL - Defense cannot score on a try.
