Hi,
Let's say Team A has the ball on A35, 2nd Down and 13, 14:00 left, 1st Quarter. Player from Team A receives a handoff and fumbles at A37. Team B scoops up the ball (gains full possession) and runs with the ball to A33 where Team B player fumbles. The ball is covered by Team A at A33. What is the down and distance? 1st-and-10 on A33 or 3rd-and-17 on A33? ???
Thanks!!!
Vic

1st and 10 Good thing it happened in regular game cause if it happened in extra period, A would be done since they did not score after the COP

1st and 10 for A.
If in overtime, A's possession is over.

Vic, 2 rules that might help you understand why in your scenario A begins a new series.
NF 5-1-3-d advises, "A new series is awarded to (d) The team in possession at the end of the down, if there is a change of possession during the down....."
NF 2-34-3 advises, "A change of possession occurs when the opponent gains possession during the down"
In your sample play, each time "an opponent" gained possession, that was previously possed by the other team, is considered a "change of possession". When B takes possession away from A is one change of possession, should A subsequently take possession back from B, that is another change of possession. No matter how many times possession may change during that down, 5-1-3-d designates the team last in possession starts a new series.

So lets say its in Overtime in NCAA. if B recoveres after A has possession then A would get the ball at the 25 for their possession. But if b fumbles and A recovers again then A's possession is over and B starts again at the 25?

I don't fully follow you, but here are the possible cases in overtime. Assume 1st and 10 from B-25 in all cases.
1. A fumbles at B-20, A recovers at B-20 and is downed there. Possession series not broken, 2nd and 5 for team A.
2. A fumbles at B-20, B recovers at B-20 (and advances to anywhere). Possession series over. Either team B wins, team B puts the ball in play from B-25 for their possession series, or go to the next extra period.
3. A fumbles at B-20, B recovers at B-20 and advances to B-25, B fumbles, A recovers at B-25 (and advances to anything up to B-0.1). Possession series over. Either team B wins, team B puts the ball in play from B-25 for their possession series, or go to the next extra period.

2 and 3 were the ones I was trying to explain. SO thanks that's what I was thinking should happen

If A recovers B's fumbles & advances into the EZ, does the TD count?

Yes, and in that case the options (after try) are A wins, B wins, B's possession series, or go to the next period.
