team A scores, sets up for try using swinging gate. #52 is long snapper, 87 on right side of ball off line. Ball snaps, 52 goes into the end zone, pass thrown by #9 set up as kicker. We throw flag illegal touching. Fans, coaches go ballistic. call?
-
Can't catch a pass with #52. Good get!
-
NFHS - is the pass behind or beyond the line of scrimmage? If so, is it caught by a receiver eligible by both number and by position? If behind the LOS, and the receiver is eligible by both, then no flag - an ineligible receiver can go beyond the LOS on a pass that stays behind the LOS. If beyond the LOS, ineligible downfield. If thrown to an ineligible receiver beyond the LOS, two flags - illegal touching (loss of down) and ineligible downfield. B/R will decline the ineligible downfield, and accept the illegal touching, as it comes with a loss of down, so no replay.

I imagine #52, the snapper, was on the end as in most swinging gate/water bucket formations. Apparently K/A coach forgot about the ineligible by # bit in the rulebook.
This could have all been avoided if he had only reported in to the referee ::)

My first varsity game of the year, I had a number 76 as a snapper in a gate try to report to me. The coach couldn't understand what was wrong.
-
"Im(#78) eligible."
No you're not...
"Coach told me to tell you Im eligibile"
You'd better not catch a pass or go downfield

I have had the same coach. He gets his rules "as seen on TV".
-
They all must be watching the same channel then, that home shopping football channel seems to be very popular among some coaches..

That is nearly verbatim how the conversation went.
Thankfully they shifted and kicked the extra point.

Our mechanics for swinging gate (some coastal teams refer to it as "prancing lobster") :
If gate is swinging / lobster prancing towards white hat's side, we hold the wing at sidelines. If they then shift to kick, the wing sprints toward pipe. IMHO, we would need a wing @ goal line if play made.
-
We have all officials except the B hold their normal positions when a team comes out in the prancing lobster/swinging gate/muddle huddle. If and when they shift into kick formation, everybody hustles to their normal kick position.

Y'all sound like you do it 'bout like we do. I use "y'all" for the many forum friends south of Mason/Dixon. I use Washington Native-Americans when referring to your local football team. I gag cRaZy when referring to my local football team pi1eOn. It's now viva Les Alloouettes aWaRd, which was where your Nats came from...Who was the last pitcher to throw a no-hitter for the Expos ????....for the Senators ????

Ralph, I grew up in Chicago, so you can talk say whatever you want about the Indigenous Native Persons. I'm also a Cubs fan, though I've picked up a bit of Nats fan. I've been to a handful of games in DC, but have only rooted for the home team one time, as every other time I've gone was to see the Cubs.
So, to answer your questions: got me. yEs:

Apparently, it was Bobby Burke in 1931 for the Senators, and Dennis Martinez in 1991 for the Expos. Wow!
-
Hey Ralph the Als new QB is a homeboy. Well sort of, he transferred high schools after his sophomore year to here. Apparently he has them on a bit of a winning streak.
We just can't figure out what channel carries the CFL on the sat.

Good job, 'Bama, you nailed it tiphat: I believe Dennis's kid brother, Pedro, flirted with a no-no but lost in extra innings. I assume ,where Alabama has none, you may be part of Braves' Nation. :)

You would have to find a cable that carries CBC (Canadian Broadcast Company), but you would need to hurry as I believe their season ends shortly with The Gray Cup (their version of our Super Bowl). aWaRd

Can't get cable here in the rural (2 miles outside of town) South ::) NFL Notwork used to carry them, then NBCSN did carry it, then they reverted back to the ESPN family of channels, of which they got buried after CFB started.

Chop, chop! Many Braves are Alabama natives, including Henry & Tommie Aaron, Bruce Benedict, & Craig Kimbrell.

I think I've seen the CFL show up on the WatchESPN app and website.
-
The CFL is on TSN a Canadian English language station started by Labatt Brewing Co. The Grey Cup is on Nov. 30th.
