Happened in LaTech game yesterday. Kickoff bounced about the 3 yard line, still in bounds. Continued "out of bounds" while in the air, but crossed the plane of the goal line (outside of pylon, out of bounds) then landed. Ruled a touchback. Correct?

My understanding is that 4-2-3 would but it out of bounds at B-3
But my understanding of 4-2-3 is so confused that I need help on this

4.2 - Loose Ball Out of Bounds
Article 3.c. If a live ball not in player possession crosses a boundary line and then is declared out of bounds, it is out of bounds at the crossing point.
But keeping in mind that this is on our list of when-in-question rule touchback.

Goal line extended only in play for ball in player possession. B's ball where it crossed the sideline.

Free kick out of bounds. Would imagine ball would be placed 30 yards beyond where it was kicked or rekick -5.

Official must have used the "when in question" rule. He hesitantly ruled touchback. Did not sell it all.
