Following discussion with some of my local officials, I wanted to pose the following questions for discussion:
1) How often do you wash your hat? every game? once a week? once a season?
2) How do you protect your at while washing to keep in good condition?
3) How often do you replace your hat?
Post your thoughts here.

1) I wash all my hats about every 2 weeks.
2) I wash all my hats in the dish washer and it doesn't seem to affect the white to badly.
3) However, I buy new hats every season. Old hats become backups and spares.
Anything thing I do is when I get home I take the hat out and put a dryer sheet in it to help it dry out quicker and keep it "fresh".

1. White hat -- when it starts to yellow around the bill; black hat -- when it gets relatively icky on the front of the band. So usually twice a year for the white hat and once a year for the black hat.
2. I let it soak in a large pot with Oxiclean for a bit, and then use a toothbrush to scrub away the dirty parts. I have a hard plastic protector that the hat fits over. After washing it, I put the protector in and set it on my dryer. It dries in a day or so and the protector keeps it from shrinking.
3. I have Richardson fitted hats, and I've had them for probably 10 years.

I wash them weekly cause I sweat alot. I replace my hats yearly especially my white hat which sometimes needs to be replaced twice yearly. This year though I will be saving money because I injured by back at my real job(firefighter) and I am likely down for the season.
