Title: NFL suspends SJ for timing error
Post by: cbrunnjo on October 16, 2015, 07:32:10 AM
The NFL suspends SJ for timing error in the Monday Night Game.
I always thought the LJ was in charge of the clock...

Shocking and disgusting in my opinion.  Downgrade the Official, and the crew, I get that.  But suspension.  Just not right.

I was always taught the clock was everyone's responsibility. Just like getting the down right or enforcing penalties correctly. :sTiR:

While the clock is everyone's responsibility, on a 7-man crew, SJ has primary responsibility for the clock.  I think singling him out for this is a bit of a shame, though - everyone on the crew has some responsibility for the clock, just like everyone on the crew has responsibility for being sure that penalties are enforced correctly.

I agree everyone on the crew has clock responsibility and to single him out is not right.
Someone signaled for the clock to be stopped so why didn't he come in and have a conference to add time back on. Then all would have been good.

He was suspended with pay, not the worst penalty he could have gotten.

He was suspended with pay

But if he doesn't work a game because he was suspended, doesn't that mean he doesn't get paid?

Nope. Suspended with pay equates to a paid vacation.

Pretty confident this isn't the vacation he would have chosen.

Me no work a game, me probably won't get a post-season assignment.

In this touchy-feely world of ours "Paid Administrative Leave" sounds much nicer ^TD.
