Title: Playoff forfeit in Louisiana
Post by: golfingref on December 01, 2015, 07:45:43 PM
If we have any officials from La, I would love to hear the whole story. Was mentioned on WWL 870 AM, that Amite High School won a quarterfinal playoff game, but there was a benches clearing brawl at the end of the game. The LHSAA met with officials from both schools, as well as the officials that worked the games, and other eye witnesses to confirm that there were no players left on the bench. Therefore, according to state rules, the team's players must sit out the next game. Since no players were left on the bench, the semifinal game will be forfeited. Their scheduled opponent will have a bye before the state championship.

Getting to be "the same old, same old".  Why bother having disciplinary standards, if you keep bypassing the consequences?

Perry Mason obviously hasn't read a rule book lately. "The association's ruling has excluded all the kids from Amite from participating, when some of the kids didn't violate the rules..."

I thought Rule 9-8 covers leaving the bench area - a violation of the rules. ???

His suggestion that the school instead forfeit a regular-season game next year would be "more fair" is funnier than Larry the Cable Guy.

How long before the race issue is brought up.  Any takers?

I was supposed to be working that game. There is a court hearing Friday morning  which will likely be appealed either way. I just hope its resolved prior to us having to get on the road to travel to a game that likely will not be played.

To be fair, a bowl of grapes is funnier than Larry the Cable Guy.

But, yes, let's let the Senior captains off the hook and punish next year's incoming Freshman instead.
