Here's a great training video. The black jersey team is down by one point with two seconds left on the clock and going for a "hail mary". Review the clip and discuss with your association or crew members.

Not sure what rules code being played under. For NFHS the interception was completed about the 8 yard line, clearly outside the zone in which "momentum" becomes a factor (5 yd line in), so the defender is responsible for bringing the ball into his own EZ, where he chose to terminate the play. Baring any problems elsewhere on the field, this looks like a Safety, score 2 points for Black.

Correct under NHFS (8-5-2a) Momentum Exception: Applies to defense (intercepts the offenses forward pass, fumble or backwards pass; or recovers the offenses fumble or backwards pass) & R (catches or recovers a scrimmage kick or free kick) between their 5 yard line and GL; and his “original” momentum carries him into the EZ with possession + ball becomes dead
Since the defensive player caught the ball completely by his 8 YL, the momentum exception does NOT apply. When he went down in his EZ, it would then be by rule a safety [8-5-2] and the offense would have won by a point!

Look like a European League game, so likely NCAA rules, but same result -- Safety.
-
Great job by the crew not to quit on the play after the interception!
-
pHiNzuP Totaly agree. Back judge killed the clock and went right to a conference with the other officials to get the call right!

I was told this game was played under NFL rules, which have no distance requirement for the MX. (11-5-1-Exp 2)
That said, I'd certainly rather see B-11 bat the ball to the ground.

You've been misinformed. This was the Czech Bowl this year and Czechs use IFAF rules (I'm not aware of a league in Europe which would use NFL rules). The correct ruling is a safety.

Game was played under IFAF Rules (http://www.myiafoa.org/rules/2016/ifaf2016/index.htm (http://www.myiafoa.org/rules/2016/ifaf2016/index.htm)) Think NCAA with local variations normally related to things outside actual plays.
What made this play even more critical was game position. Not only the last play of the game with A trailing by one point but also the championship final!
Although there was good TV coverage of the game, there was neither Instant Replay nor the IFAF Video Judge rule in use. Either of those would have helped resolve the location of the interception before the game ended.

I stand corrected on the rules set in use.
It's too bad B-11 didn't suffer the consequences for his stupidity.
-
It is also disappointing that this failed ruling led to the resignation of multiple officials and cost a team the championship.
-
There has been some misreporting on the reasons for the resignations.
IAFOA (http://www.myiafoa.org/) will be issuing a statement shortly on the incident.
