Well, here we go again. Everyone in South Florida be safe! Irma looks like a definite get-out-of-town event.
For those of us along the Gulf Coast, let's say our prayers. 🙏🙏

Several years ago, NOAA, FEMA, and the City of Tampa did a film project showing the Doomsday effect of a Cat 5 coming up the west coast of Florida. They projected thousands would die due to failure to evacuate timely because the roads would clog so quickly.

We have a condo on St. Pete Beach and are keeping a weary eye on the Weather Channel. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and yours that may be in it's path.

It appears Naples and Tampa/St Pete, while suffering damage, were not as impacted as badly as many feared, although the power grids took a major hit. 6.5 million without power in the state.
Jacksonville on the other hand is more like a Harvey event. Heard the mayor on CNN this morning say they got 25 inches of rain in 4 hours overnight. :!# Water in some places has risen to second story levels.
Also looks like football scheduling is taking a major hit. Florida State will be off again this week. That makes 3 weeks between games.
Coastal South Carolina and the Atlanta area getting it now. Stay safe everyone!

Our concern for our condo at St. Pete Beach disappeared after reaching Larry, our 80+ year old "floor general" on Monday. The condo still had power and was basically unscathed. Larry treats his condo like the ole' style ship captains that never abandon their ship and rode the storm out. "The #@%& cable was off", he spluttered, but it was good to hear that he and all that stayed were safe and sound.
While our primary interest was the bricks and sticks of our condo, it shouldn't have been. The safety of those that chose to stay and these that stood sentry over the deadly storm deserve our heartfelt thanks and prayers.
