Dear All,
I would like to ask you a question about some signals. Go to 1:21:00.

The extra point is good. Then, the referee (Red Cashion)
- Raises his hand - GOOD
- Open his arms - ?
- Touches his head - ?
- Points his finger to someone - ?
Please, can you explain to me the meaning of these signals? Thanks.

Arms out means going to a media break, touching his head is probably the length of the timeout, and pointing is telling them to start timing much like a basketball official points at the table when starting a TO.

Is Red coming back on the field? Signalling is a soundless method of conveying a message, that can be intended for specific individuals, or for great multitudes. Have you considered, Red simply wasn't sending YOU a message, rather was communicating with specific individuals, who very likely understood each and every gesture. completely.

Geez Al, lighten up. Simple question about ancillary signals.
-
Excuse me... What are ancillary signals?

Excuse me... What are ancillary signals?
"Extra" signals that aren't numbered in your rule book. Such as punching receivers off the line pre snap or tapping the ground on a pass that skips incomplete.

REPLY: This clip was 1985. "Pointing at someone" was to the 'red hat' letting him know that TV is controlling the time out
