And then you’ve got those clowns rushing the 18th green at the PGA golf tournament a short while ago. I wish they had rounded them up and put them in the fairway and told the crowd, “They’re yours.” Might stop that kinda crap.

During my almost 40 years of officiating, I’ve worked games in some of the biggest stadiums in the country, and some of the smallest towns in our state.
There’s no question which I prefer. And it ain’t even close.

Ahh, for the days of yesteryear :thumbup. If you made a bad call, it might be discussed briefly Monday morn at the general store pray:;. Today everyone has a cell phone, every cell phone has a camera :puke: :puke: :puke: Everyone will be able to see what they have missed within seconds of the call pi1eOn hEaDbAnG :puke:. Ole' duffers (like me) may have grown a thick skin 8]..young duffers haven't :'( :-[ :(....and we wonder why the "graying" of officials in ALL sports is growing and the recruiting of young officials is harder hEaDbAnG !
Welcome to our forum, Rglodich, we hope you find it both enjoyable and informative. We enjoy posts from coaches with their perspective. I feel both officials and coaches are on the same team. Our opponents are video games and cell phones. My dream would be the following posted signs :
NO ALCOHOL
NO TOBACCO
NO FIREARMS
OR
CELL PHONES

Ralph, I agree about coaches and refs on the same team. I love the officials I can talk to and joke with during the game. I often will ask the sideline official.."what would you call here?" some of the answers were priceless.

FWIW; for a long time I've always carried a couple of CDFOA business cards in my uniform shirt pocket, so on the way on/off the field for a game, so should a persistent spectator feel a necessity to educate me, on some finer point of the game, I hand him a card, with my response, Thanks, we're always looking for "smart" people to join and contribute to our service". the usual response is a confused look & DEAD SILENCE (or stammering, "but, but") as I continue walking.
