Title: Florida 7A Championship
Post by: Stripes50 on December 15, 2025, 09:15:49 AM
This was the last play of the FL 7A Final.  A lot of discussion about the handoff.  Opinions?

I find it humorous that B5 was fine during the down, and only after the down is over he decides he has a cramp or a pulled muscle or something, and decides to lay down and play hurt. There was another guy that was limping during the down, and also fell to the ground, but he managed to get up and move off the field. 5 fully participated in the down, but is somehow incapacitated after the down.
Ha ha.

??? When a runner is in the grasp of an opponent and is being driven backwards, when does his forward progress stop  ???

^talk 2-19-2 & 3 seem to make the handing legal  :thumbup as long as the play wasn't dead  :!#

"Tis a shame the game officials  didn't have the time we have to review and kibitz  yEs:

For what my 2 pennies nickel is worth, if your rules here are like NCAA, his ability to make progress was not clearly stopped, so the ball was not dead. And the exchange of the ball was not forward, so, legal. Play on!

"held so his forward progress is stopped"

I'm not killing this play.

I like the no stoppage, runner was in grasp but still fighting and churning his legs while being pushed sidewards/backwards.   What a heads up play by #22 to come get the ball.  Handoff was legal imo.

I agree with the others. I saw a runner fighting to make progress and would not have blown it dead.
The handoff was not forward, it was at worst sideways.
Touchdown.
