The first thing I notice right away is the format - some sort of tall, narrow proportioning. I guess I won't have a nice 5" x 6 1/2" booklet any more. Looks like it will be more like 5" x nearly 8". Hmm. Not sure I like that, but it could grow on me.

...surely it already has grown on you?

It's gone from 260 pages to 197?

Looks like the bookmarks by chapter (Rule #) are not there.

Mostly due to the new page formatting.

Adobe Acrobat says the page size is 5.25 x 7.00 inches.

That's page 1. Check page FR-43, for example.

Use the function on your printer to "fit to printable area" and it will come out perfect for a three ring binder or the perforated rings.

Absolutely. Good for old folks like me that need large print.  :-\

But, I am looking for the classic old rule book size, to bind with a wire spiral binder, as I've done for many, many years now. Ain't gonna get it, though, unless I shrink the book artificially, to fit. Then the text gets unacceptably small. So, it looks like it will be about a 6" x 8" booklet (with text at the default print size). I am really curious what size the printed books will be. We'll see in July, I guess.

Another annoying thing- at least for me- is that they removed the section numbers from the header.  Instead of Rule 9-2 or whatever, it now just says Rule 9 on every page.

This is minor: in the Summary of Penalties section the * on the "O" column is not defined in the new book.  The last book it was defined incorrectly (typo) on page FR-147 and correctly on FR-148 and 149.  Also the AR pages are numbered without the "FI" preceding the page number.

Well spotted! It looks like the outside covers are a different size from the rest.

The random selection of inside pages that I sampled are all 5.88 x 8.75 inches.

The big reason for the fewer number of pages is that they took out the FI section on replay.

I have printed and bound my copy, I like the feel of the book, thinner and I think easier to thumb through.

This is the worst part about the new book.  Trying to find a rule reference quickly is a lot more difficult.

Not if you have it in pdf and use the 'find' function.

Agreed.  Was at our study group meeting yesterday and this was extremely frustrating.

In the AR section, in Rule 10 does anyone have a page 58?  In the pdf version I downloaded, it appears to mistakenly have placed this page "Index to Editorial Changes" where page 58 should have been.

Okay, thanks.  I will go and down load it again then.
