Title: Offensive Blocking Technique on Scrimmage Kicks-Legal or Illegal

Received an inquiry from a high school coach here in Texas about a blocking technique that he would like to employ on a scrimmage kick formation, i. e., field goal/PAT attempt:

Offensive interior linemen at the snap grab each other at the ankles or below in order to counter the defensive charge to block the kick. Would this constitute an illegal act under "interlocking interference?" We now know that these same linemen may now legally lock ankles per the recent rule changes but what about grabbing the teammates ankles in executing that same technique? I can't seem to find anything in the NCAA rulebook to readily hang my hat on. Haven't yet seen that in some 33 years of officiating. If you can help out, please provide "book, scripture, and verse" for me! Thanks!   z^

Strictly speaking, ankle grabbing is illegal....in Texas.   

they still have laws against it on the books, but arrests are extremely rare. ;)
