Anybody have a clip of the exchange between Hawkins and the supervisor of officials (I didn't get his name) during the Military Bowl? Hawkins actually accused him of CONSPIRACY when he backed a call on the field.
There was no response from the supervisor (the silence was DEAFENING!

I heard that and it was obvious to me that it was an attempt at humor. Not much, but an attempt. I didn't give it a second thought.
Best regards,
Brad

Pure kidding around. The tallking head had "ruled" on a play and when IR did not agree with him he went into the feigned rant. Just looking for entertainment value.
-
I am going to finish watching the game today. Any idea when in the game this happened?
Thanks

It's been rumored when you open the latest version of Webster's looking for the definition of "idiot"... you'll see his picture. yEs:
Help me out with something (I didn't tape the game and only saw a quick snippet so I'm not sure of what transpired): when AF went for 2 in the last minute of the game, did they have a forward fumble OOB on the exchange?
-
They had a fumble that went forward and OOB. Only player in a position to possibly recover before it went out was a different Team A player so they would not have made the points anyway.

That's what I thought happened, but wasn't sure. It would have driven the talking heads nuts had that different player recovered and they wiped off the apparent WINNING score!

There was some discussion of the "what if" but the brilliant lady head took it to mean that "once the ball hit the ground the play was over".
-
...the brilliant lady head...
Mrs. Idiot ;D

The PAT fumble: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mwlq3NAem_s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mwlq3NAem_s)
Not sure why we needed the announcement from the R. Nobody recovered the fumble. The world, even the talking heads, knew there was no score.
-
Why is this not a pitch (i.e., backward pass) that was never possessed to which the forward fumble rule would not apply?
-
The snap was possessed by 19. Are you saying 19 tried to backward pass? I don't see that. I see a fumble, ball was knocked loose from 19, he did not try to pass it.
-
It is hard to tell from this camera angle, and it would depend on what the H saw. It was clearly an option play, however, so I think there is a good chance he was trying to pitch.

From a news report on the game: (FYI - Baska is the AF holder Davud Baska)
"We knew we were going to run it. And I didn’t make the play," Baska said. "It’s my responsibility to get in the end zone. The coaching staff and my teammates trusted me. You’re down by one, and they trust you to make the 2-point conversion. I lost the game."
Baska took the loss hard, but he was a victim of a great play. Toledo lined up eight players to the right of Air Force’s left guard, which is what the Falcons were banking on. There were only three defenders in the area the Falcons wanted to run Baska through. But Elliott sniffed out the play from the middle of the defense, running down Baska.

Why you would put a skinny little holder who never runs the ball into a situation like that is beyond me.

Uh....maybe because he is one of the best athletes on the team? http://m.gazette.com/sports/bowl-130837-game-air.html (http://m.gazette.com/sports/bowl-130837-game-air.html)

You can't help but feel for the kid. Academy life teaches responsibility. He took responsibility even though there were 10 others out there. He didn't lose the game; they did. But he felt as if he let the team down. The world needs more just like him! FlAg1

I was watching this game and it was pretty obvious it was a fumble and not a backwards pass.

Just a comment regarding the "forward fumble rule". The rule that would have came in to play has nothing to do with the fumble going forward. In NCAA, on Trys and 4th Down plays, it makes no difference if the fumble goes forward or backwards only the Team A player that fumbles can recover it. If it is ruled a backwards pass, any player may recover it.
