Title: Helmet Situations
Post by: Harry on May 23, 2012, 04:06:28 PM
3\10 @ A30. A23 receives a handoff and is running with the ball.  B75 is legally blocked by A68.  B75's helmet comes off not due to a foul.  A68 leaves the block and B78 stops in his tracks to watch the play.  A23 is hit and fumbles.  The ball (a) flies into the air and is caught by B75, (b) rolls on the ground where B75 reaches down and picks up the ball, (c) flies in the air and hits B75 in the chest who tries not to catch the ball.  It is later downed by either team.

What are the rulings for A, B, and C?

Now add one more adjustment to these.  Same situation as A and B.  When B75 catches or picks up the ball, he is tackled by A46.  What is the ruling?

a) PF 15-yards and sit out a play b)PF 15-yards sit out a play c)no foul, sit out a play.

In the adjustment, you probably have off-setting PF one for illegally continuing to play without a helmet and one for making a play against a player not legally participating.

Here's an interesting one I thought of based on yours...

3\10 @ A30. Double-Twins formation A19 is the left end. B41 is in press coverage 1-yard off the LOS. At the snap, there is contact between A19 and B41 and B41's helmet comes off without a foul by A. A19 continues to run down the sideline and B41 chases him. The pass is thrown and B41 intercepts the ball at the B45 and he a) is downed at the B45 or b) returns the ball to the B49.
