A close friend passed after his game Friday. Didn't feel well in the lockerroom afterwards, the on site-EMTs started doing their job & passed in transport.
He was a retired USMC Master Gunnary Sgt (E9), with 28-years, his unit was 3rd Force Recon Company and had 2 tours of Vietnam as well as our conflicts in Panama, Lebanon, First Gulf War, Somalia, Bosnia. He was also the owner of a Bronze Star with Valor Device and 3 Purple Hearts.
While old enough to be my father, he was a good friend.

I didn't know the man, but I would have been honored to have known someone with such credentials. There's your true hero. May he rest in peace and his family be comforted.

Godspeed Gunny. Sorry for your loss Steve. He will be remembered and honored by his brothers in stripes.

So sad Steve. Praying for comfort for his family and friends.

So sorry to hear this, God bless his family and friends.

Darn fellas. Thanks for the kind words.
My narrative above was a bit off.
He didnt have 1 Bronze Star, he had 2 AND a Silver Star to boot.
Goodness.

I'd bet that he never thought about getting medals - only doing what he knew how to do - defend this country. Not a media hero - just a real hero.
-
Prayers for a fallen brother and a true servant of his country.

Steve,

Please take a look at your messages. I need to ask you something.
Thanks,
